Welcome to Ottawa Contra Dance!

Contra dancing is a joyful, energetic community dance for all ages. We dance to live music – fiddles, guitar, accordions, and more – and talented callers guide us through dance formations.

Check out our Schedule page or subscribe to our email newsletter for upcoming dances.

Beginners are very welcome – all dances are taught and no partner or previous experience needed – just bring your smile!

After we’ve eaten, there will be time for some games in the nearby field, or at the picnic tables, so bring an activity or game to play, and we’ll have some outdoor fun. Kids are welcome!

Summer Dance Season Break

The June 4th dance concludes our – very brief! – 2021-22 dance season. We hope to resume dances in the Fall. As the pandemic is not over, our ability to hold dances in the Fall and Winter will depend on local circumstances. We have started tentative planning for contra dances on the 1st and 3rd Saturday evenings, beginning on September 17th.
